 April 10th 2011

We held our Elwood Beach walk and the weather couldn't have been much worse, but we walked in the rain. It was showers of rain so it wasn't too bad. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our Bullies, the looks we got as we walked towards Brighton were priceless, 18 Bullies wandering up the path is enough to make even the most serious people crack a smile.

November 7th 2010

The Bully Beach Walk was a success, again. Thanks to all the members who turned out (30+ bullies) on an inclement weather day, the rain did stay away, shame the wind didn't. A huge thank you to the new Bully people who turned out and a massive thank you to the people who drove some distances, Yarrawonga, Warrigal and outer suburbs of Melbourne.

These walks are designed to show the public what these dogs are really like, and so far our 3 walks have certainly done this. It's also about getting out and about with ya Bully mate. Keep an eye on our Bully Walk page for details on our next walk. Hope to see more people there.

 October 30 & 31st 2010

The Bull Terrier Club of Victoria held it's Specialty/Champ show during the last weekend in October. This was a massive task to organise with 3 judges and a dinner. A huge thankyou to all the committee who all pulled together and helped each other out. The weekend ran smoothly and I hope the members enjoyed themselves. The dinner was great fun, thanks to all involved.

A huge thank you to Sandi who painted all the wonderful prizes & Jamie Watkiss who made the BIS/RUBIS & Challenge trophies, these were all amazing trophies and I'm sure the people who won them appreciate these one off items.

Thanks to the members who supported the club by buying auction items, raffle tickets and of course entering your dogs. The donations from members & others were also greatly appreciated.

Thanks again to all involved and congratulations to all the entrants.

Your attendance is greatly appreciated.

Sunday August 8th

Another perfect Melbourne day was ordered for our clubs second Bully Walk. This one was held in the Fitzroy Gardens and included a City walk with a quiz to do along the way. The official photographer, Merryl, counted 29 Bullies on the walk and 2 Staffys so what a turn out. Plus a couple of Bullies didn't do the walk.

So many new faces with people driving hours to get to our walk, a BIG thankyou to those people who suport our club. This again proved another successful outing for our beloved breed. By all acounts there were plenty of keen people wanting to take photos and ask questions about the dogs. I guess Melbourne has never had 30 Bullies wandering around the streets.

The next walk is planned for November, but before the next walk we've got a Members Comp, plus our big Champ show in October. Hope to see everyone there.

Thanks again, to Chris and Sandi who dragged the stuff in and a huge thank you to Jan who slaved away on the BBQ, and of course all the Bullies, so well behaved, they certainly did us proud.

Saturday June 19th

What a brilliant day at out Albert Park Lake. With one count saying there were 30 Bullies wandering around Albert Park it was a fantastic turn out for our first Bully Walk. Every-one was very well behaved and of course the Bullies are always well behaved. We have got some great photos of this event so make sure you check our photos page.

This will not be our only Bully walk, I'm currently in the process of organising the next walk, as I know many Bully onwers just like getting out and about with your dogs and meet other Bully people in a relaxed environment. Plus educating the public about our amazing breed.

Check the website for the next walk, and it will also be in the clubs next newsletter.

Thanks to all the people that helped out on the day, helped set up & pack up, donated food for our BBQ, and of course a MASSIVE thank you to our Master chefs who spent thier day cooking the BBQ.

Sunday May 23rd

What a brilliant turn out today for our Members comp, with 28 entries it was a huge turn out. Congratulations all of todays winners and thank you to all the Bully Clubs members who turned out to support the club. I know numerous people drove some distance to get to our show, so a big thanks to them. Without you guys our club ceases to exist.

Also a big thanks to the new people who came along for a look and got ropped on to show their dogs. It's just a bit of fun, no pressure and a great way to meet other Bully owners and just to make sure it's not just your Bully who destroys everything.

Thanks again to all who turned out and a huge thank you to committee, your work doesn't go unnoticed, helping pack up, tear down and generally assist with everything. (including driving all the way back to Montrose when someone forgot the prizes)

Hope to see everyone at the Bully Walk on June the 19th, lets all hope for good weather.

Wednesday April 28 2010

The Bull Terrier Club of Victoria committee is organisng Bully Walks. Hopefully we'll be able to oganise a few of these during the year and it'll be a chance for Bull Terrier owners or potential Bully owners to get out and about. It's a chance to show the public how great these dogs are and of course a chance to have some fun with your Bully.

Our first Bully Walk will be held on Saturday June the 19th at Albert Park Lake from 12pm onwards. (obviously weather permitting, check weather on the day and ring Leigh if in doubt or check website)

This will be a fun afternoon where you can meet other Bull Terrier owners and find out more about the breed from breeders and other owners alike.

The day will start at the Pelican Lawns near the car park of The Carousel on Albert Park at Alberet Park Lake. There are plenty of parking areas around the Lake and parking fees may apply.

Look out for our banner and the Bull Terriers. You can go for a walk around the lake with fun activities to do along the way. Prizes will be awarded for percipients of these activities. Or just hang out and try our famous Bully BBQ.

These are a social day without the pressure of showing, just a casual afternoon. You don’t even have to own a Bully, just come along and find out more about this amazing breed.

Caulfield Pet and Animal Expo February 2010

The Bull Terrier Club of Victoria had a stand at the Caulfield Pet Expo this year. This was held at Caulfield Racecourse.

What a fantastic turn out we had. The info packs we made up were all handed out to the public. And our brochures were also taken.

A huge thank you to our volunteers who brought along their dogs, all dogs were extremely well behaved, as were our helpers. Our pirate theme was a big hit, next year we WILL win the best stand.

Thanks again, especially to Anthony and Jasper, new member and first time helpers, you were a big help. So Thanks.

Deb

Heat and your Bull Terrier:

Don't forget your Bully during the hot weather. We all know they don't cope too well with the heat, so make sure you have plenty of fresh water avaliable. And if possible bring them inside if you have air conditioning. And don't exercise your dog too much, not that is much of a problem with Bullies.

Take care during the hot weather.
